The Root canal treatment is also known as Endodontics . It is the part of the dentistry that deals with the  diagnosis and prevention of the diseases and injuries of dental pulp. It consists of the removal of the dental pulp and the bacteria and their toxins from the root canal, disinfection and shaping of the root canal system and subsequent filling the same with inert material, in such a way to avoid the proliferation of bacteria inside . With root canal teeth also very damaged, can be saved by avoiding to be extracted.
The dental pulp is very soft tissue  that contains blood vessels, connective tissue, nerve of the tooth . The crown ( tooth above the gum) contains the pulp chamber . The pulp extends from the pulp chamber through the root canal to the apex of the root .
Two main reasons for the root canal treatment are:
* Deep Tooth Decay : Tthis is the main reason for root canal. The caries begin penetrating the outer layer of the tooth enamel creating a cavity. If this is not stopped in time , it continues to damaging  the pulp of tooth.
*Trauma : In some cases, trauma to the tooth (accidents or sports) can damage the pulp of the tooth.
* Other causes like periodontal disease , tooth fracture.

• Tooth infection caused by deep caries.

• An opening is made through the crown, to reach the pulp chamber .

• The pulp is removed, the root canal is cleaned, enlarged and prepared to be filled. Normally, between one session and the other on the tooth cavity is put the dough provisional.

• The pulp chamber and root canals are filled and permanently sealed with a biocompatible material.

• A pin of metal or carbon is placed in the canal of the tooth to give support to its reconstruction.

• The crown of the tooth can be covered with a capsule in order to avoid fractures.

After treatment is completed, periodic checks are crucial to the health of the tooth undergoing root canal treatment. Regular checks associated with a scrupulous oral hygiene, in addition to maintaining healthy teeth and gums allow the tooth taken care of last.
